Nestled in the hills along a winding road is the “Hardy Creek Store” – a stopping place when we went from our home in central Wisconsin to the Mississippi River. It is located along Highway 54. It was a surprise when we first discovered it and a place we looked forward to stopping each time we drove that way. I’m sure it served the countryside at one time with groceries and a general line of goods, but when we discovered it, it was an antique store. The frame for this picture was purchased there. Since we first discovered it and since I painted this picture, the building continued to deteriorate. It has now been demolished.
